Dr. Craig D. Schneider

Dr. Craig D. Schneider is a Managing Director in IMPAQ's Health Division. He provides leadership on IMPAQ’s strategic growth opportunities.


Dr. Schneider has been a leader in promoting accountable care, developing and implementing payment reform strategies, and engaging stakeholders across the health care system to improve consumer engagement, efficiency, health information technology and interoperability, and quality throughout his 27-year career.


Dr. Schneider has seven years of experience working with a wide range of clients including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, the CMS Center for Clinical Standards and Quality, the US Department of Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, the Massachusetts Center for Health Information and Analysis, the Vermont Green Mountain Care Board, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the Massachusetts eHealth Institute.

Prior Experience

Prior to joining IMPAQ, Dr. Schneider was a Senior Health Researcher at Mathematica Policy Research, and directed large, complex projects related to value-based care and social determinants of health. Previously, he was Director of Healthcare Policy at the Massachusetts Health Data Consortium, convening the Massachusetts health care community to address issues such as health information technology, health information exchange, quality reporting standardization, electronic health record implementation, accountable care, and improving care transitions. Dr. Schneider began his career at CMS as a Presidential Management Fellow, and led teams addressing beneficiary outreach and engagement, quality improvement, and provider reimbursement.


Dr. Schneider earned his Ph.D. in Health Policy from the Brandeis University Heller School for Social Policy and Management in 2004. He has an MBA degree from Boston University with a concentration in Public Management.
