Dr. Sandeep Shetty
Dr. Sandeep Shetty (Ph.D., Economics, University of Arizona) is a Senior Research Economist with IMPAQ International. He has a PhD in Economics from the University of Arizona (UA) with specializations in Applied econometrics, Labor economics, and Applied Industrial organization theory. While pursuing his PhD, he was also an instructor for nine upper level undergraduate courses at the UA in Econometrics, Business Microeconomics and Macroeconomics.
At IMPAQ, Dr. Shetty is involved in a diverse set of projects that employ his strong quantitative and analytical training. His training, past experience, and strong set of skills make him flexible to work across a variety of projects.
Presently, he is a co-task lead for a third-party evaluation of the Arizona Sun Corridor Get Into Energy Consortium (ASC-GIEC) for the Maricopa County Community College District under the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) grant. In this project, he is building processes to efficiently collect and manage data from the different community colleges and organizations involved in this grant that will aid the evaluation of the grant. Using his background in econometrics, he is also conducting a quantitatively-driven profile analysis of U.S. Women veterans for the US Department of Labor using a large publicly available dataset. He is also employing his strong analytical skills to a USDA Food & Nutrition Service Business Process Reengineering project in three states for which he serves as a researcher. His responsibilities include supporting state teams to conduct tests that enable assessment of process efficiency and help recommend changes that will help timeliness of program eligibility determination.
Dr. Shetty has strong quantitative abilities, data management and statistical programming skills. He is proficient in STATA and MATA and has a good working knowledge of other statistical packages like R and MATLAB. Prior to his PhD, he worked in financial intermediaries, credit rating agencies, and quasi-academic institutions in India conducting economic research and quantitative analysis, preparing reports and presentations.
