June 25-29, 2017

Dr. Jaime Meza-Cordero

International Development Research Associate Dr. Jaime Meza-Cordero will present “Evaluation of the Avancemos Program in Costa Rica” during the 92nd Western Economic Association International (WEAI) Annual Conference. The presentation will take place on June 26 at 2:30 PM.

The Avancemos Conditional Cash Transfer Program was developed by the Government of Costa Rica to combat the rising problem of drop-out and abandonment in secondary school. The program was established May 2006, with the objective of promoting school attendance for adolescents that belong to families living in poverty. In 2016, UNICEF selected IMPAQ International to partner with the Government of Costa Rica to conduct a complete evaluation of Avancemos.

Dr. Meza-Cordero has more than five years of experience performing program evaluation research in less developed countries. His practice includes: evaluation design, survey instruments design, implementation strategies, project management, budget management, data collection, data management, data analysis, and report elaboration.
