For the second year in a row, the Washington Post has named IMPAQ International as one of the Top Workplaces in the Washington, D.C. area. The Washington Post surveyed hundreds of area companies, analyzing employee responses to 22 questions on how they view their jobs, their companies’ leadership, and the health of their organizations.

According to experts who organized the Furthering Girls’ Math Identity event, the answer lies in the concept of “math identity.” The event, part of a National Science Foundation-funded project, Educational Equity, gathered educators, researchers and policymakers from across the country.

The expansion comes as part of IMPAQ’s continuing growth strategy, which has already seen the company grow an average of 30% over the past three years. A study co-authored by IMPAQ International and REL Midwest at American Institutes for Research demonstrates how the choice of statistical methods can change which schools are identified as “beating the odds,” or having higher academic achievement than schools with similar student demographics and income levels. The study, released as a REL Midwest report by the Institute of Education Sciences in February 2015, found that different statistical analysis methodologies may lead to wide variations in which schools are considered as “beating the odds.”
