Independent evaluators have found that measurable progress in reducing the rates of some targeted healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) has been achieved under the umbrella of a national plan to prevent HAIs that was developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The evaluation appears in a special February supplement to Medical Care. The journal is published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a part of Wolters Kluwer Health.

IMPAQ International, a premier research, evaluation, survey and technical assistance firm, announced today that it had acquired Berkeley Policy Associates (BPA), a public policy research and consulting firm with capabilities across a broad spectrum of substantive areas, and based in Oakland, California. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

IMPAQ International announced today that it has been awarded a 5-year, $7.65 million contract by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Under the contract, IMPAQ's Survey Operations team will work to evaluate “Medicare Part C and Part D plan sponsors’ call center availability and responsiveness to current and prospective enrollees and contracted providers.”
