Every year millions of immigrants legally enter the United States, many of them looking to integrate into the American labor market. National, state, and local governments rely on research to understand and meet the needs of both our immigrant population and the labor market.
IMPAQ supports the public policy and programs with research and evidence of the official channels through which migrants interact with the U.S. Government and the labor market.
For example, IMPAQ is currently assessing the impact of H2-A visa rules on employers and State Workforce agencies. IMPAQ is also running an independent evaluation of the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) system, which is designed to confirm the immigration status of individuals who apply for certain federally-funded benefits. This evaluation will explore how user agencies implement the SAVE system, as well as asking what the experiences of benefit applicants are in their interactions with agency staff.
