IMPAQ supported the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, to provide an evaluation for one of its principal programs, the Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK).
The program was designed to increase elementary school student’s aptitude in math and science and their interest in pursuing science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) career. Operated in 11 cities across the country and serving more than 3000 students annually, the program used a hands-on, project based curriculum and teamwork approach to solving problems and creating products while discovering the underlying math and science principles.
The plan enabled NSBE to evaluate the SEEK program effectiveness for students and other constituents such as parents, sponsors and mentors through analysis of survey and test data. Major tasks included:
